Diamond - Vancouver
I started with an Isabella cocktail - sparkling wine, mango, ginger and basil (CA$10) and edamame with rock salt and olive oil (CA$5).
Then I had a Vietnamese duck & soy chicken sub sandwich (CA$9) -with asian pear, cilantro, pickled carrot, cucumber and mayo.
It was okay, but was a poor version of the Banh Mi's that I am used to from the US. There was very litte meat and the sandwich was pressed like a panini.

Japadog - Vancouver
The first day I arrived in Vancouver I walked by the storefront branch of Japadog at 530 Robson Street and there was a long line of anxious customers. Later in the week I noticed a busy downtown Japadog cart.
Curiousity got the better of me and I had to try one. I tried the Okonomi -
Kurobuta pork with bonito flakes (CA$6.25). It was a very large hot dog and the bun was nice and soft. The flakes gave it a slightly fishy salted taste.

Sun Sui Wah Seafood Restaurant - Vancouver
...is located at 3888 Main Street in the Richmond area of Vancouver - also known as the "other Chinatown".
I visited for dim sum and was disappointed. I don't think the quality was as good as dim in the States.
I tried the traditional roast pork steamed buns, shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, taro cake and steamed sticky rice (each order was about CA$4.00) along with a pot of Jasmine tea (CA$0.80).

Guu Kitanoya - Vancouver
I visited the 1698 Robson Street location of this Canadian chainlet of affordable Japanese restaurants in Vancouver.
I had a peach Bellini cocktail (CA$5.50) which was more ice than alcohol. I started with the Agedashi Tofu (CA$4.20) and the Sashimi Salad (CA$8.80). The prices were quite reasonable for good, basic Japanese fare.

Market - Vancouver
...located in the Shangri-La Hotel at 1115 Albani Street offers a 3 course prix fixe lunch for CA$32.
I started with a homemade cherry yuzu soda and the dungeness crab cake appetizer - which was good, pure crab meat without filling.
For my entree I had the wild salmon with truffle mashed potatoes and sugar snap peas. The salmon was the pinkest color I had ever seen.
And for dessert - chocolate pudding with candied violets.
