Sushi A Go Go

...is located on NYC's Upper West Side at 1900 Broadway.

"A" had the Sushi Broadway $17 - 2 tuna, 1 salmon, 1 yellowtail, 1 whitefish, 1 shrimp, 1 ikura and 1 california roll.

I had the Sashimi Columbus $18 - 3 tuna, 3 salmon, 3 yellowtail and 3 whitefish.

The fish was fresh and tender, but the portions a little small.

Sushi Sen-Nin

Sushi Sen-Nin is one of my favorite low key sushi restuarants located in NYC's Murray Hill at 30 East 33rd Street.

The fish is fresh and the portions are generous and the sushi chef, Matsu, is very nice.

I stopped by for lunch - the Matsu Sushi for $22. This includes miso soup, 5 pieces of sushi and a spicy tuna roll.

Their speciality rolls are very good too.

Yama Zakura - MA

"M" took me to this great sushi restaurant in Massachusetts located at 369 West Main Street, Northborough.

We started with the Yama Nachos (ahi tuna with ginger served on crisp wontons). And then we shared the Rolls Royce roll (salmon, panko and spicy sauce), the East Coast (unagi, avocado and tuna) and 2 pcs each of unagi and hamachi sushi.

The fish was very fresh, the presentation beautiful and the owner friendly.

Umami Moto - Milwaukee

Who says you can't find good sushi in Milwaukee? Umami Moto is located in the downtown area at 718 N. Milwaukee Street.

This modern and sleek restuarant is nestled among other very good restaurants on this otherwise deserted block behind the Pfister Hotel.

I started with a Razzle Dazzle cocktail ($8) - which was a slightly sweet, light drink. Then I had Tuna Poke ($15) with wonton chips which had nice chunks of avocado. Followed by an Unagi roll ($13) and Spicy Tuna roll ($8).

This was very good and more than enough food, but I just had to have a little sweet afterwards so I topped dinner off with a warm chocolate cake ($8) topped with coconut ice cream.

Everything was very good.

Tojo's - Vancouver

...is located in Vancouver at 1133 West Broadway. For a splurge this is a good sushi restaurant where the Omakase starts at CA$150 (depending on how many courses you can eat).

I started with a glass of Gerwurtraminer (CA$9) and was only able to eat 11 courses:

- Tojo tuna sashimi

- Tempura squash blossoms stuffed with scallops

- Crab roll with panko

- Blue fin tuna sushi

- Smoked sable with asparagus and mango

- Crab meat salad with spicy sauce and pickled radish

- Giant Clam handroll

- Egg crepe with mango, salmon and crab

- Tojo cucumber wrap

- Tempura sweet potato roll with crab and mango

- Green Tea creme brulee with sesame crisp

Guu Kitanoya - Vancouver

I visited the 1698 Robson Street location of this Canadian chainlet of affordable Japanese restaurants in Vancouver.

I had a peach Bellini cocktail (CA$5.50) which was more ice than alcohol. I started with the Agedashi Tofu (CA$4.20) and the Sashimi Salad (CA$8.80). The prices were quite reasonable for good, basic Japanese fare.
