No. 7 Sub is a sandwich shop located on the ground floor of the Ace Hotel in NYC's Midtown at 1188 Broadway.
All of the bread is baked daily at their dedicated production bakery, Bun Panthers, in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
It's a very small space designed mostly for take out orders. There are only two small counters in their front windows where you could stand and eat if you chose to "stay in".
No. 7 Sub is very popular for the week day business lunch crowd and the wait seems long (which it was). But each sandwich is made to order and you can see that from the low counter behind the cheerful cashier.
I had the Eggplant Parm - Fontina, Yellow Squash, Pickled Jalapenos and BBQ Potato Chips ($9) and chocolate/caramel Half-Moon Cookie ($3).
The sandwich was not as big as I anticipated for $9 (all of their subs are the same price despite the ingredients) and the jalapenos gave it a little kick. I like how the BBQ chips added a crunchy texture.
The cookies was a chocolate base with one side frosted in caramel and the other with chocolate.
This is a better alternative to a regular deli sandwich, albeit a more expensive, time consuming one. But all of the employees are friendly and it's a fun atmosphere to take a few minutes out of the day and away from the office.
