Macaron Day NYC 2010

I had just heard about this event a few days ago and was delighted, but had to cancel my afternoon plans for this. Those of you who have been following my blog already know that I am a great fan of French Macarons. If I could have cancelled my morning plans I would have done so!

Several bakeries in NYC (Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens) were offering free macarons and a portion of today's sales from macarons were being donated to City Harvest.

I went to 6 participants today in the late afternoon, but the last two had run out of free macarons. Next year I will start bright and early in the AM! I had already been to half of these and tried their macarons. In the next few weeks my goal is to visit the ones I haven't been to yet.

I also forgot my cell phone so I am sorry for the lack of photos.

I went to the following:
- FC Chocolate Bar and had an Azuzu macaron (good)
- La Maison du Chocolate (on Madison) and had a vanilla with chocolate macaron (excellent)
- Butterfield Market and had a chocolate macaron (good)
- Mad Mac and had a pistachio macaron (good)
- LA Burdick - the 3 women ahead of me in line snagged the last macarons
- Madeline Macarons - they posted a sign on their display case that they ran out of macarons

In my opinion macarons are better than cupcakes and am glad to see their popularity is growing.
