Turducken

I was so curious about Turducken that I made a special trip to Mara's Homemade at 342 E. 6th Street in NYC's East Village to try it. I have dined at Mara's previously for their cajun/southern cuisine which has always been satisfactory.

Unfortunately, "T" and I were both disappointed with our Turducken. For $29 we expected so much more. It was a small slice and it tasted like regular roasted turkey. We could not distinguish any chicken or duck. The stuffing was okay. It was served with 3 sides: jalepeno cornbread (which was very good and cakelike), string bean casserole and mashed sweet potato
with a nicely toasted marshmallow. It was also served with cranberries and white gravy.

We were, however, happy with our beignets - 4 large wedges of fried dough covered in powdered sugar for $5.

We also had fresh lemonade for $3 each jar.
