BLT Burger

Everyone is offering recession pricing even at BLT Burger (the most casual of the BLT restaurants) in NYC's Greenwich Village on 6th Avenue and 12th Street.

For $17 you get a burger, fries (choice of skinny, waffle or sweet potato) and a shake (I ordered the mocha mudslide because it contained oreo cookies). The regular menu a la carte would be burger $9, fries $4 ($5 for sweet potato) and shake ($6-7 for "non spiked"). This is a $4 savings! Woohoo.

The burger was cooked to order (medium rare) with lettuce, tomato and red onions. The fries were well done and accompanied by a wedge of pickle and coleslaw.

But the star of the meal was the milkshake - rich and thick (the restaurant uses special wide straws) - and topped with whipped cream.

The restaurant is casual and good for groups (as seen on the night I visited with JP - there were 4 large parties), but very noisy.
