Han Gawi

...is a vegetarian restaurant located in NYC's Koreatown at 12 East 32nd Street.
I started with a ginger iced tea which was served in a beautiful leaf shaped bowl/cup.
"E" and I shared the vegetable mandoos which had a nice crunchy texture inside.
We both had vermicelli noodles with mushrooms, but "E"s version was spicier.
The food was good, but a little expensive for vegetables and compared to other Korean restaurants in the neighborhood.
The decor and environment was quite Zen. And guests are asked to remove their shoes and sit on cushions with their fit dangling in square cutouts under the tables.

Franchia

In NYC's Murray Hill area at 12 Park Avenue is a very unassuming tea &vegetarian restaurant called Franchia. The decor is very zen like and the service is speedy and pleasant.

The food is asian fusion and I tried the Singapore Curry Angel Hair Noodles $13.95 with a Ginger Tea latte $6. The noodles were tasty and a bit spicy, the plate decorated with carved carrots. The Latte had a strong ginger flavor and topped with soy whipped cream. This would be a vegetarian version of a milk shake!
