Halcyon Flavors from the Earth - NC

I had the pleasure of having a business dinner at this Uptown restaurant located at 500 S. Tryon Street in the Mint Museum.

My party started with a cheese board ($14) and the Nest of spaghetti squash ($9). "J" and I had the Short Ribs ($19) while "A" and "C" had the Cider Pork Chop ($22).

For dessert we shared the Almond Bread Pudding ($7) and Doughnuts and Coffee ($8) - tiny beignets with a chocolate espresso pot du cream.

Delicious!

We loved the open kitchen and reclaimed wood tables and lighting fixtures. Plus the view over S. Tryon Street was very pretty.

Brookwood Farms - NC

I stopped for dinner at Brookwood Farms located in the Atrium of the Charlotte Douglas Airport while waiting for my flight.
I had the pulled pork sandwich with one side (mac n cheese) for $8.95. The sauce had too much vinegar and the mac n cheese was mushy. It was a shame because NC is known for its barbecue.

Marriott - Charlotte

I had breakfast in this hotel during a business trip. I wasn't very hungry so I ordered orange juice ($4), a bowl of cut fruit ($3) and whole wheat toast ($2).

15 North Roadside Kitchen - Charlotte

I was in Charlotte for business and went out to dinner at this new restaurant near the Southpark area of Charlotte. It's very casual with good, homey food.
We shared the crab cake and grilled calamari for appetizer and threw in an order of parmesan fries and onion rings. Of course, the fried stuff was great.
"A" had the pork chop which must have been double cut because it was the size of a fist.
"J" had the pot roast.
"S" had the daily special of double cheese lasagna.
I had the boneless buttermilk fried chicken which was good, but not as crispy as I generally like.
The for dessert we shared a slice of cheesecake and chocolate layer cake (served with a shot of cold whole milk). The desserts were okay, but pedestrian.
