Pinang

This Malaysian restaurant is located at 111-10 Queens Blvd. in the NYC borough of Queens.
I ordered a coconut drink (coconut water with a pc of fresh coconut) - $3, roti canai (crispy indian pancake served with curry chicken dipping sauce) - $3.50 and 1/2 Hainese chicken (steamed chicken with chef's soy sauce) - $9.50.
These are some of my favorite dishes. I love the roti and can eat it every day.

Malaysian

Malaysian Kitchen festival was held November 5-6 in NYC's Grand Central Terminal.
There were several restaurants and food vendors, cooking and dancing demonstrations to increase the awareness of Malaysian food.
"S" and I tried several dishes:
- shrimp sambal with coconut rice ($7) - it was a little fishy and you only received 3-4 small shrimps, but the rice was good.
- chicken and beef satay ($5) - the chicken was good, but the beef was chewy. They sat on a steamed Chinese bun and were covered in peanut sauce.
- coconut and almond cupcake ($3) - a little dry, but the frosting was good
- iced lychee and green tea ($4) - very subtle flavor
- banana and palm sugar donuts ($3) - also dry and not too sweet

New Malaysian

Located in Chinatown Arcade #28 off from Bowery Street in Manhattan's Chinatown is one of the best Malaysian restaurants in NYC. The decor is not impressive, but they make up with it on the food.

We ordered the following 3 dishes for 3 people and had plenty of leftovers to take home for another person's meal:

Roti Canai $2.95
Green Beans in Belecan sauce $9.50
Hainanese Chicken (1/2) $8.00
Homemade Tofu with Special Sauce $11.95 (this dish contains pork and shrimp)
Hainanese flavored rice $1.25
and for dessert Singapore Ice (not pictured) $3.25 (this contains red beans, corn and gelatin)
